Driver receives whiplash, 30 children stuck in adventure centre
A road traffic accident that left a bus driver with whiplash and a foot injury had effects across Cumbria this weekend.
The severe weather played a major part in causing the crash, as snow caused the driver to lose control of the bus and crash into a garage. Aside from the driver's injuries, the bus had to remain in position in case it was holding the wall up.
A replacement bus was turned back due to the weather conditions. The thirty schoolchildren that were awaiting the buses have been allowed to spend another night in the adventure centre that they were visiting.
The bus company's owner commented, "The main thing is that the children are safe and warm. Their headteacher is with them and they are not in any danger at all." He hopes to have them home by today.
Aside from the driver's whiplash and foot injury, no-one is believed to have been hurt.
